Quick Facts
About Festival acadien de Clare
The Festival acadien de Clare is the world's oldest Acadian festival, now in its seventh decade of celebrating the language, music, and traditions of Nova Scotia's Baie Sainte-Marie region. Stretching along the scenic French Shore in the Municipality of Clare, the festival is the cultural heartbeat of Acadian Nova Scotia. For 2026 it adopted an expanded two-week format running August 2 to 15, building toward National Acadian Day on August 15.
The 2026 program was broad and deeply rooted in community: evening concerts featuring Acadian and francophone artists, art and quilt expositions, theatre, nature hikes, kitchen parties, and family-friendly activities. The undisputed highlight was the Tintamarre on August 15, a joyful, noisemaking parade through the streets that has become one of Canada's most distinctive cultural celebrations and a powerful expression of Acadian pride.
Many events were free, with select concerts and galas ticketed through the official program. The 2026 festival paired beautifully with the region's fresh seafood, coastal drives, and warm Acadian hospitality. Accommodation along the French Shore is limited, so book well ahead for next year. It's an unforgettable way to experience a living culture that has shaped this coastline for four centuries.
