Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information Nova Scotia Vacation ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. This site is an informational travel guide; we aim to collect as little personal information as possible.
Information We Collect
We do not require you to create an account to use this site. The information we may collect includes:
- Usage data: pages visited, referring sites, approximate region, and device type, collected via analytics services (see below).
- Email address: only if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter via the signup form.
- Information you provide to third parties: if you click an affiliate link (for example, to book a hotel or flight), any information you give is handled by that third party under their own privacy policy, not ours.
Cookies & Analytics
We use analytics services to understand which content is useful and to improve the site:
- Umami - a privacy-friendly, open-source analytics platform. Umami anonymizes data and does not use cross-site tracking cookies or build personal profiles.
- Google Analytics 4 - uses cookies (such as
_gaand_ga_<property-id>) to distinguish unique users and measure sessions. IP addresses are masked (anonymized) at the network edge by Google. We use the resulting aggregate metrics to understand traffic patterns and improve content. Google processes this data on our behalf under Google's data-processing terms.
You can block these cookies via your browser settings without affecting your ability to read the site.
Advertising & Third-Party Cookies
We display advertising served by Mediavine (mediavine.com), a third-party advertising network. To show and personalize ads, Mediavine and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies. These may be used to:
- Measure the performance of advertising campaigns;
- Limit the number of times you see an ad;
- Show ads based on your browsing activity across websites (interest-based advertising).
This means advertising partners may collect information about your visits to this and other websites β not your name, address, email, or other direct identifiers. Some of this data may be shared with advertising partners for ad targeting and measurement, which is standard practice for sites supported by display advertising.
Your Ad Choices
- Opt out of interest-based advertising: visit the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page at aboutads.info/choices or the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Manage cookies in your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking advertising cookies will stop interest-based ads but the site (and non-personalized ads) will still work.
- EU/UK visitors: Mediavine serves a consent management platform that gives you granular control over which advertising partners may process your data.
Mediavine is a participant in the Digital Advertising Alliance and Network Advertising Initiative programs. A full list of Mediavine's advertising partners, and how to opt out of each, is available at mediavine.com/ad-partners.
Third-Party Services
Our pages contain links to third-party booking and travel platforms (such as Travelpayouts partners). Once you leave our site, those services' own privacy policies apply. We encourage you to review them.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you. Because we collect minimal data, we typically have little to none - but you can contact us anytime. European residents also have the right to opt out of certain data processing via the consent management platform described above.
