Festival Antigonish

Festival Antigonish is one of Nova Scotia's longest-running professional summer theatre festivals, presenting live performance at the Bauer Theatre on the St. Francis Xavier University campus from mid-July through August. The 2026 season mixes main-stage drama, family theatre, and concerts, with shows running Tuesday through Saturday throughout the summer. It is the cultural anchor of Antigonish's summer calendar, drawing both local audiences and visitors exploring the Northumberland Shore.

The 2026 main-stage season opens with Murder at Ackerton Manor by Steven Gallagher (July 14-25), a whodunnit comedy, followed by The Greatest Play in the History of the World by Ian Kershaw, a Theatre New Brunswick presentation (August 5-8), and Beyond the Sea by Kristen Da Silva (August 18-30). The family stage presents Biggest Little House in the Forest (July 29-August 8), a show designed for younger audiences. The festival also hosts concerts at the Bauer, including Old Man Luedecke on July 31 and Ian Sherwood and Friends on August 9.

Festival Antigonish is a volunteer-powered, community-rooted institution with a Theatre Academy offering classes for aspiring performers of all ages.
