Quick Facts
About Wolfville
Wolfville is a leafy university town perched on the shores of the Minas Basin, where the world's highest tides expose kilometres of red-mud flats twice a day. Home to Acadia University and the gateway to the Annapolis Valley's farm stands, cideries, and Tidal Bay wineries, it blends a student-fueled cafΓ© culture with some of the province's best farm-to-table dining.
History
Established on the dyked salt marshes of the French Acadians in the 17th century, Wolfville was resettled by New England Planters after the Acadian Expulsion of 1755 and incorporated in 1893. The arrival of Acadia University in 1838 transformed it into an educational centre, and the late-20th-century emergence of the Good Cheer Trail positioned it as the hub of Nova Scotia's burgeoning wine and cider industry.
