History & Description
Bass River Lighthouse is a white, wooden, pepper-shaker-style tower built in 1907 on the western side of the entrance to Bass River from Cobequid Bay. It served as the easternmost beacon on Cobequid Bay, the eastern section of Minas Basin and the Bay of Fundy. David Vance was appointed as the first keeper.
This lighthouse is now privately owned. Please take photos from the road. It was automated by approximately 1992 and later discontinued as an active navigational aid.
