Detailed Information

Dining on the Ocean Floor is Nova Scotia's most extraordinary dinner reservation: a foraging walk, a guided tour, and a multi-course seafood feast served on the exposed tidal flats of Burntcoat Head Park, where the Bay of Fundy records the world's highest tides. Hosted by Food Fantastique, the experience has drawn international acclaim β€” a place on Forbes' top-10 bucket-list experiences and The Guardian's pick as the world's best dining experience.

The day works with the tide clock, not against it. You meet your guides at Burntcoat Head Park near Noel, on the Minas Basin shore, and walk out onto the seabed itself at low tide. Local forager Jonathan Newell introduces the wild edibles of the marsh and shore before a long table is set on the ocean floor for a seafood-focused meal with beer and wine pairings, prepared in the open by the hosting chefs. After the meal, a campfire on the flats brings tea, coffee, and Mi'kmaw storytelling as the tide begins to return.

2026 Dates and Price

Tickets are $725 CAD per person, plus tax and gratuity. The 2026 season runs on five dates, each with a next-day back-up in case of severe weather β€” guests must be available for both:

  • Thursday, July 23 (back-up July 24)
  • Friday, August 7 (back-up August 8)
  • Friday, August 21 (back-up August 22)
  • Sunday, September 6 (back-up September 7)

Bookings open online at foodfantastique.ca/booking or by phone at 902-223-6962. The experience sells out well ahead of the season, so if a date shows unavailable, join the operator's mailing list for the next release. Cancellations are free up to 21 days before your date; inside 21 days, seats are refunded only if the waitlist can fill them. The event runs rain or shine except in severe weather, and runs roughly 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. β€” bring rubber boots and weather-appropriate clothing.

Planning Your Visit

Burntcoat Head Park sits on the Bay of Fundy's Minas Basin shore at 45 Faulkner Lane, about an hour from Halifax and 40 minutes from Windsor. Time your visit with the park itself β€” the tidal walking trails at Burntcoat Head and the interpretive centre explain the 16.3-metre tides that make this dinner possible, and our Bay of Fundy travel guide covers where to stay nearby. The park is also inside the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Geopark, worth a full day of its own.
