Dining on the Ocean Floor

Dining on the Ocean Floor is Nova Scotia's most extraordinary dinner experience: a guided foraging walk, private tour, and three-course seafood feast served on the exposed tidal flats of Burntcoat Head Park — the site of the world's highest tides. Hosted by Food Fantastique, the experience has earned international acclaim, including a spot on Forbes' top 10 bucket-list items in the world and recognition as the #1 dining experience in the world by The Guardian newspaper. In 2026 the experience runs on five select dates: July 9, July 23, August 7, August 21, and September 6, each with a next-day rain date.

The day begins with a welcoming glass of sparkling wine and an introduction to the wild edibles of Nova Scotia with a local forager, followed by a lunchtime shore-boil of fresh, sustainable seafood cooked in Tidal Bay wine. Guests then tour the ocean floor on foot before settling at a long table for a three-course dinner — including butter-poached Nova Scotia lobster tail and pasture-raised beef — paired with award-winning Tidal Bay wine from Avondale Sky Winery and craft beer from School House Brewery. The evening closes with a campfire on the tidal flats, tea and coffee, and a front-row view of the incoming tide.

Tickets are $725 per person and sell out well in advance, so booking early is essential. The experience runs roughly 11:30am to 5:30pm and requires rubber boots and weather-appropriate clothing. It pairs perfectly with a visit to Burntcoat Head Park's interpretive centre and the surrounding Fundy Shore communities of Maitland and Noel.
