Halifax County Exhibition

The Halifax County Exhibition is one of Nova Scotia's oldest country fairs, running since 1884 and organized by the Middle Musquodoboit Agricultural Society. The 2026 edition runs August 19-22 at the Exhibition Grounds on Exhibition Grounds Road in Middle Musquodoboit, with the theme 'Cultivating Community.' It is a genuine family fair: livestock classes for cows, horses, sheep, and poultry; a 4-H barn; flower, garden, photography, and needlework competitions; a midway with rides; and a Wednesday afternoon parade through the grounds.

The 2026 schedule opens on Wednesday with Children's Day (all children 12 and under admitted free), followed by the traditional exhibition parade at 1 PM. Thursday through Saturday bring the full program of livestock shows, exhibits, midway hours, and food vendors. The exhibition has bounced back strongly since its post-pandemic return, and the agricultural society keeps the fair grounded in its rural roots while adding modern midway attractions for families.

Middle Musquodoboit sits in the Musquodoboit Valley, about 45 minutes from Halifax, making the fair an easy day trip from the city or a stop on an Eastern Shore road trip. Bring cash: most purchases at the grounds are cash-only and ATM access is limited. One-day and four-day passes are available, with discounts for seniors and children, and kids five and under get in free.
