Quick Facts
About Honey Harvest Festival
The 11th annual Honey Harvest Festival fills the Avon Spirit Shipyard in Avondale on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. β a single-day celebration of bees, beekeepers, and the harvest they make possible on the Avon River. Expect honey tastings, beeswax crafts, mead and hive products from local producers, demonstrations that pull back the cover on a working hive, and the shipyard's own wooden-boat heritage as the backdrop.
The Avon Spirit Shipyard at 17 Belmont Road is itself the draw: a community shipyard on the historic Newport Landing waterfront where traditional boatbuilding carries on. The festival is run at a genuinely local scale β free-flowing, family-friendly, and the kind of event where the person pouring your mead sample bottled it that week. Details on vendors and programming for the 2026 edition are at avonriverheritage.com.
The date is chosen well: the last Saturday of September is peak harvest country, with the Hants County Exhibition running in nearby Windsor the same weekend. Avondale sits between Windsor and Wolfville, so fold the festival into a Valley day built from our fall harvest activities guide and the Annapolis Valley travel guide.
Make the most of your time in Annapolis Valley - pair Honey Harvest Festival with our Annapolis Valley Self-Drive, culinary trails guide, and Good Cheer Trail & Wine Country guide. They're each packed with itinerary ideas, local tips, and everything you need to extend your stay.
