Crescent Beach at Lockeport is a two-kilometre arc of white sand on the South Shore, in Shelburne County about 204 kilometres from Halifax, and one of the province's most recognizable beaches: it appeared on the 1954 Canadian fifty-dollar bill. The beach curls in a clean crescent, calm-faced and low-key, and it connects the mainland to Lockeport's historic waterfront, so the town and the beach read as one place. Lockeport is a genuine beach town, a small community on the sand with the crescent as its front yard. Facilities cluster at the visitor centre, which has washrooms, change rooms, showers, and free Wi-Fi, plus free parking and picnic tables.
