Shopping in Old Town Lunenburg is really two streets and a side trip. Montague runs from the harbour to the churches, holding SEEK Gifts & Home Decor (5.0), Caico-Mae Clothiers and the souvenir counters; Lincoln Street is Gallery Row, where Gallery on Lincoln, Dots and Loops Handmade and Jenny Jib line the same few blocks. Dots and Loops Handmade (4.7) has curated artwork, prints, clothing, jewellery and stationery at 183 Lincoln since 2011, and Jenny Jib at 174 Lincoln keeps side-street hours - recently Friday through Sunday, noon to 5 - with antique jewellery and local handwork that rewards a slow browse.

Laurie Swim Gallery (4.9) occupies the historic Addington Arms at 25 Cornwallis Street, showing quilted and stitched Atlantic coastal scenes - some spanning metres, built from hundreds of hand-dyed and found fabrics - by an artist held in public collections across Canada. Admission is free, the season runs May to December, and the artist or her assistants are often on hand. Out in Rose Bay, Wavewood Designs (5.0) represents eight artists in fine art, sculpture, photography, driftwood and stoneworks from June 5, and Sand Dollar Pottery Studio & Shop (5.0) sells functional stoneware with food-safe glazes, directly across from Sand Dollar Beach.

SEEK Gifts & Home Decor, at 55 Montague since 2019, is the go-to for Canadian-made housewares, paper goods and distinctly Atlantic Canadian gifts - it holds a perfect 5.0 across its reviews. Caico-Mae Clothiers at 138 Montague sells current-season women's clothing alongside locally made jewellery and art, with reviewers noting options at all price points; its online hours conflict, so call (902) 634-9540 ahead. In The Woods, founded by designer Veronique Miljkovitch, carries Canadian-designed clothing, jewellery and homewares on a Thursday-to-Saturday, by-appointment rhythm. The historic district strings them all along Montague, Lincoln and Pelham.

The Bluenose II Company Store at 121 Bluenose Drive is the official outlet for the schooner's apparel, nautical gifts and books, and the booking desk for its two-hour harbour cruises; proceeds support the ship's operations, the season runs May through December, and free deck tours are typically available when the ship is in port. Down the wharf, the Fisheries Museum gift shop (4.5 across 945 reviews) fills the Salt Store - the museum's oldest building, an 1899 salt storehouse - with nautical books, model-boat kits and locally made maritime keepsakes. Entry to the shop is separate from museum admission, so browsing is free.

The Lunenburg Farmers Market has run for more than thirty years, every Thursday from 8 AM to noon, moving between the Lunenburg Arena at 19 Green Street in summer and the Community Centre at 15 Green Street in winter, with local products and live music and no admission fee. Around it sit local artisan co-operatives - Dots & Loops, the Admiral Benbow Trading Company at 84 Montague, Shore Things, Bluestone Magik, Northern Sun Gallery - and the December craft festival circuit that fills three venues with 100-plus Nova Scotian makers.

The Old Town is compact enough that Montague, Lincoln and the waterfront fit one walking loop; start at the Visitor Information Centre at 11 Blockhouse Hill Road for maps and current boutique hours. Call ahead where hours conflict - Caico-Mae's directories disagree, Jenny Jib keeps weekend-only hours, and In The Woods runs by appointment.
