Detailed Information

On Dublin Shore, where the LaHave River meets the ocean, Cape LaHave Adventures runs one of the most complete paddle-sport outfits in the province. From a sheltered cove at 14 Bells Cove Road, the company has been putting visitors on the water since 2014, and its backyard is the reason it stays busy: the LaHave Islands, an island-studded archipelago whose coves, beaches and seal colonies sit a few paddle strokes from the launch. The setting feels wild β€” some islands are completely untouched β€” yet the practicalities are easy: it is about 1.5 hours from Halifax and a 15–20 minute drive from Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and Bridgewater.

The outfit is built for beginners as much as for salty adventurers. No experience is needed, groups stay small, and guides hold Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification alongside internationally recognized paddling credentials such as Paddle Canada and BCU. Night tours, including the bioluminescent kayak trip that lights up the water on dark summer evenings, use tandem kayaks for safety. Beyond guided tours, the company offers Paddle Canada instruction, multi-day tours, and kayak and SUP rentals and sales. The shop also rents kayaks, SUPs, and wetsuits to paddlers going out on their own, and sells new and used boats and boards.

Address: 14 Bells Cove Road, Dublin Shore, NS B0R 1G0. Phone (902) 693-2023, toll free 1-877-413-1935. The tour season concentrates on summer; bioluminescent and full-moon departures follow the moon calendar on the darkest evenings, so dates sell out early. Plan the wider trip with the South Shore guide, see the region page for towns and lighthouses, and if paddling is the point of the trip, the kayaking guide covers where else to launch around the province.
