About Pictou Lobster Carnival
The Pictou Lobster Carnival was a three-day celebration of lobster, community, and summer on the beautiful Northumberland Shore. Taking place on the historic Pictou waterfront — the birthplace of New Scotland — the carnival had been a beloved Maritime tradition for over 80 years, drawing visitors with its irresistible combination of fresh seafood, live music, and old-fashioned family fun.
The 2026 carnival featured the famous lobster-in-the-rough dinners, a midway with rides and games, a grand street parade, fireworks over the harbour, and a packed entertainment lineup on the waterfront stage. Mackerel fishing derbies, a classic car show, and a lobster-eating contest rounded out the weekend's festivities — another memorable year for one of Nova Scotia's longest-running summer traditions.
Pictou's waterfront is home to the replica ship Hector, which brought Scottish settlers to Nova Scotia in 1773. The Hector Heritage Quay and the picturesque downtown make Pictou a wonderful destination to explore between carnival events.
