History & Description

Black Rock Lighthouse is located west of Canada Creek on the south shore of the Minas Channel in Kings County, Nova Scotia. The original lighthouse at this station was a square wood dwelling with a lantern on the roof, established in 1848.

The current structure, built in 1967, is a round fiberglass tower painted white with two red horizontal bands. The tower stands 34 feet tall and exhibits a flashing white light. It is automated and remains an active navigational aid. Located along the Evangeline Trail, the lighthouse is accessible by car and offers views across the Minas Channel toward the Bay of Fundy.
