About LatinFax Festival

LatinFax was a vibrant celebration of Latin American culture on the Halifax Waterfront, hosted by the Latispánica Cultural Association. What began in 2021 as a gathering at the Halifax Central Library grew into one of Atlantic Canada's most dynamic cultural festivals, drawing thousands of visitors to the waterfront for four days of music, dance, food, and art.

The festival brought together the rich cultural tapestry of Latin America with live performances ranging from salsa and merengue to cumbia and reggaeton, traditional folkloric dance showcased were featured, and hands-on workshops. Food vendors served authentic cuisine from across the region — think empanadas, arepas, tacos, and churros — while artisan booths displayed handcrafted jewellery, textiles, and artwork.

Admission was completely free, making LatinFax an accessible and family-friendly way to experience the warmth and energy of Latin American culture right on the Halifax Waterfront. The 2026 edition ran July 15-18, opening at 6 PM on the first day with evening programming and daytime-to-late programming through the weekend. LatinFax was part of an amazing cultural corridor on the waterfront — Afrifest (Jul 16-19, FREE African diaspora celebration) and Halifax Pride (Jul 16-26, Atlantic Canada's largest Pride) kicked off the following day, making this an extraordinary two-week stretch of arts and culture in Halifax.
