Quick Facts
History & Description
Berry Head Lighthouse, located on the east point of Berry Head at the west side entrance to Tor Bay in Guysborough County, has guided mariners since 1876. The original structure was a square wood tower with white and red stripes and a black roof, standing 36 feet tall. It was replaced by a new tower in 1978.
The current Berry Head Lighthouse is a small white square tower mounted on a wooden fog signal building, standing 19 feet tall with a light height of 41 feet above water. It remains operational with an automated fixed white light and fog horn, serving as a vital aid to navigation along the Marine Drive on Nova Scotias Eastern Shore.
