History & Description
The lighthouse, built of cast iron, was removed from the island and stood at the Coast Guard Base from the mid-1980's until 2010 when the Fisheries Minister announced that it would be moved and re-erected at Dingwall, Nova Scotia, on Cape Breton Island. The St. Paul Island Historical Society was awarded the care of the lighthouse and opens it to the public during the tourist season.

Today the lighthouse is located at the Dingwall Museum, 575 Dingwall Road, Dingwall, NS. It is open seasonally (10am-5pm) with free admission; phone 902-285-0304. Originally built in 1915 as a cast-iron tower, it was designated Canada's first heritage lighthouse under the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act and was relocated to Dingwall in 2010 as a museum exhibit.
