History & Description

Cameron Island Lighthouse is a square wooden tower located on the northeast end of Cameron Island in the Bras d'Or Lakes, Victoria County, Cape Breton Island. Built in 1977, the white tower stands 24 feet tall and features a flashing green light that operates seasonally from May to December. The lighthouse guides mariners through West Bay and was automated by 1993. Accessible only by boat, this relatively modern lightstation is situated along the scenic Bras d'Or Lakes Scenic Drive route, near the community of Orangedale.
